Moore Trosper Construction Company, based in Holt, Michigan, completed the site work for the Michigan Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Monument, dedicated July 27.

Work began October 2018. The July 27 dedication was attended by hundreds of people from across the state, including survivors and friends of Michigan’s fallen law enforcement officers as well as active and retired officers.

Moore Trosper’s scope of work included all structural and concrete pavement work, electrical, pavers and landscaping.

“We realize the gravitas of this project,” said Ted Moore, president of Moore Trosper. “We’re honored that our work will help honor the nearly 600 officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice while making our communities safer."

The monument in downtown Lansing incorporates a 0.85-acre area that is 295 feet by 130 feet. It is coined the "Sentinel" because it will feature 10 sentinels that are 4-by-8 metal panels engraved with the names of fallen officers. The sentinels are surrounded by a paver plaza; concrete walks, retaining walls and seating; in-grade lighting and landscaping. Also included are two flagpoles and two bike racks.

Moore Trosper Project Manager Dave Evans added, "Moore Trosper is particularly well suited for this type of project because we self-perform the concrete work. It's one of our specialties.”

The monument is located within Veterans Memorial Park, at the corner of Allegan Street and Butler Boulevard. It is west of the Capitol building and north of the Library of Michigan building.

The monument contract was awarded by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget.
