LANSING, Mich. – The 20th Annual Entrepreneurial Awards of Greater Lansing were presented Thursday evening, March 6 at the University Club of MSU to four worthy recipients. Tiffany Dowling, publisher of the Greater Lansing Business Monthly, and April Clobes, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at MSU Federal Credit Union, co-hosted the event before nearly 300 attendees.

This is Dowling’s first year serving as publisher of the Greater Lansing Business Monthly and her first year in heading up this event. In an effort to increase the visibility of the awards, Dowling made the decision to honor just a few select winners each year.

”After meeting with the judges, we decided to eliminate some categories that have existed in the past and instead cast a wider net, looking for honorees that truly exhibit the qualities mentioned – no matter what field or industry they are in,” said Dowling.

Recognized for their hard work, determination and their ability to take risks, category winners included: Ryan Lowe and Nikali Luke of Simplified Tax and Accounting Services, who received the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award; Crispin Velasquez and Elijah White of C&E Pipeline won the Emerging Entrepreneur Award and Chris Johnson of On Target Living received the Socially Responsible Entrepreneur Award.

The Entrepreneur of the Year Award is intended to set the bar for aspiring and emerging entrepreneurs. The entrepreneurs of this company found a way to set themselves apart from the competition. This year’s award went to Mark and Leigh Kraushaar of Belle Title Company.

“The key to a growing and thriving economy, like the one in the Greater Lansing region, are entrepreneurs like these who came up with an idea and relentlessly move forward pursuing greatness,” said Dowling.

Along with the Entrepreneurial Awards, the Junior Achievement Mid-Michigan Volunteer of the Year award was given to Dave Flees, who has been instrumental in impacting the lives of many mid-Michigan students for over 25 years.

The Greater Lansing Entrepreneurial Awards are sponsored by: Andrews Hooper Pavlik, PLC; WILX-TV 10; Maner Costerisan, PC; University Club of MSU; The Greater Lansing Business Monthly; M3 Group; MSU Federal Credit Union; Plante and Moran, PLLC; Summit Community Bank; PNC Bank; The Plant Professionals and Capital Imaging.
