CATA Hosts 15th Annual Community Health Fair

Lansing, Mich. — The Capital Area Transportation Authority will once again partner with local health and human services organizations on Friday, Apr. 4, 2014, for its 15th Annual Community Health Fair, 9 a.m. to noon at the CATA Transportation Center, 420 S. Grand Ave., Lansing. This free event is open to the public and co-sponsored by the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine Community Integrated Medicine and the Tri-County Office on Aging.

“We are pleased to be able to host this event each year on behalf of our customers and the residents of the communities we serve, said Sandy Draggoo, CATA CEO/Executive Director. “Free health screenings help raise awareness of the availability of critically needed services. Thanks to our co-sponsors, as well as all of our participating agencies and organizations, we are able to connect so many individuals in need with the right resources.”

Free cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, bone density, oral cancer, stroke risk, vision, hearing and skin cancer screenings will be offered. In addition, attendees are encouraged to visit with health and human service professionals to enroll in public insurance and WIC, and discuss substance abuse, family planning, mental health, nutrition education, senior concerns and more.

Fourteen CATA routes will serve the CTC during the event.  Individuals requiring transportation to the health fair may contact CATA Customer Service at 517-394-1000 for trip-planning assistance. Spec-Tran customers must reserve rides in advance by calling 517-394-2282. For a complete list of service providers at CATA’s Community Health Fair, visit
