Ele’s Place Names New Managing Director

Dan Layman has been named the new Managing Director of Ele’s Place, a healing center for grieving children and teens.  Layman will oversee the Lansing branch of Ele’s Place, which has two additional locations in Ann Arbor and Grand Rapids. Layman succeeds Lori Bosch, who will remain with Ele’s Place part time in donor relations.

With 20 years of experience working with hospice organizations in Lansing and Southeast Michigan, Layman possesses an understanding of the impact grief has on families and the larger community.   Through his work, he observed first-hand the effects grief has on children experiencing the death of a parent or sibling.

“When children face the death of a loved one, they are often unsure how to express their emotions and may feel like a burden to their family,” Layman said.  “I am drawn to Ele’s Place because it offers a caring, comfortable setting for children to talk openly while benefiting from the support of their peers.”

Layman brings expertise in business development, strategic planning, community relations, and staff development to the Ele’s Place team.  Layman received his MBA from Michigan State University and his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan.

“I am thrilled to be a part of this exceptional organization and look forward to extending our reach of support across Mid-Michigan to all grieving children and teens.   It’s a wonderful mission and an invaluable resource for the community.”

Ele’s Place, a community based nonprofit, is dedicated to creating awareness of and support for grieving children and their families.  Through peer support groups, Ele’s Place helps children and teens learn how to cope with the death of a parent, sibling or other loved one.  An average of 200 grieving children, teens and their families attend peer support programs each week at no cost. Ele’s Place also provides support groups in schools and clinical consultations for grieving families.  For more information, visit
