McLaren employees decorate, donate for the holidays

Annual holiday event supports local charities, families in need

LANSING, Mich.—Employees at McLaren Greater Lansing are celebrating the holiday season by giving back to the community. Staff in more than 30 hospital departments participated in the “Simple Gift Holiday Tree Program,” decorating individual three-foot holiday trees and providing gifts to donate to charity or a needy family in the Lansing area.

“Our staff is a remarkable group of individuals,” said Tom Mee, president and chief executive officer of McLaren Greater Lansing. “The depth of their kindness—devoting themselves to treating our patients throughout the year, and coming together each holiday season to find more ways to enrich our community—is truly special.”

The program, entering its fourth year, was created by McLaren Greater Lansing Healthcare Foundation’s WeCare Committee with the intent of giving back to the community during the holiday season. Each department chooses the theme and charity based on their preference, resulting in a dazzling variety of decorations and gifts.

Since its inception, the efforts of the hospital staff have provided more than 100 trees and gifts in support of the recipients. This year, trees and gifts will be donated to the City Rescue Mission, Capital Area Humane Society, Holiday Help for Heroes, among others.

The Simple Gift Holiday Trees will be displayed from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, December 12 in the Dawe Auditorium at the hospital’s Greenlawn Campus, and in conference rooms D and E at the Pennsylvania Campus.
