MLTA applauds Governor’s support of Pure Michigan funding

$1M budget boost will net positive results for state

LANSING, Mich. – Governor Snyder’s call for an additional $1 million for the Pure Michigan campaign drew praise from the Michigan Lodging and Tourism Association (MLTA) and its members across Michigan.

In unveiling his 2016 fiscal year budget, the Governor proposed the funding increase for the Pure Michigan campaign to further reach regional, national and international markets.

“This is a testament to the effectiveness of a public/private partnership that has spurred economic growth, created new jobs and generated new tax revenues for the state of Michigan,” said Steve Yencich, MLTA president. “On behalf of our industry, we commend Governor Snyder and state legislators for their longstanding support of Pure Michigan.”

The additional $1 million investment in Pure Michigan can generate as much as $6.6 million in new tax revenues for the state, based on a recent report released by Longwoods International.

Formed in 1905, MLTA represents markets and educates lodging property and tourism business owners around the state.
