CATA service reductions in place for Spring Break

CATA service reductions in place for Spring Break

Lansing, Mich. — Spartan Service – additional bus service that operates only during MSU fall and spring semesters-will not operate Mar. 9 through Mar. 15, 2015. CATA will reduce service levels on several routes for the one-week period that Michigan State University and Lansing Community College are on spring break. 

The following modifications in service will be implemented the week of Mar. 9. During this period, refer to, and click on Find a Route for timetables specific to each route below.

Entertainment Express: Service will operate at a reduced frequency Thursday - Saturday (Mar. 12 - 14), with one trolley traveling the Michigan/Grand River Avenue corridor every 30 minutes from 7:30 p.m. to 3 a.m. 

Route 1 – Downtown Lansing/Meridian Mall: Friday and Saturday late-night Spartan Service will not operate. On the weekend of Mar. 13 and 14, the last departure from the CATA Transportation Center will be at

10:20 p.m. The final bus will leave Meridian Mall at 11 p.m., ending service at 11:35 p.m. Saturday buses will depart every 15 minutes between 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday buses will depart every 20 minutes all day rather than every 16 minutes.

Route 12 – W. Michigan/Waverly/LCC West: Buses will not travel west of Waverly Road (no service to LCC West). Weekday frequencies will change to every 45 minutes most of the day and evening.

Route 20 – South Harrison/Jolly/Dunckel: Buses will travel into Spartan Village on all outbound and inbound trips.

Route 23 – MSU/Okemos/Haslett: Monday through Friday, between 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., buses will run less often – every 35 - 45 minutes rather than every 25 minutes.

Routes 20, 22 and 23: During the break, these three routes will travel into the MSU-CATA Transportation Center across from Shaw Hall, while continuing to serve the Shaw and Farm boarding area at the corner of Shaw and Farm Lanes. Routes 24 and 25 will continue to travel to Ramp 5 on Red Cedar.

Route 25 – North Harrison: Weekday buses will operate every 60 minutes during the day and early evening rather than every 30 minutes. Saturday and Sunday service will operate as usual.

Route 26 – Abbot/Chandler: Monday - Friday, buses will operate every 45 minutes (rather than every 6 to 10 minutes) and conclude at 7:20 p.m. at the MSU-CTC/Ramp 1. There will be no Thursday, Friday or Saturday late-night service to downtown East Lansing. Saturday service will end early at 7:10 p.m. at the MSU-CTC/Ramp 1. Sunday service will operate as usual.

All MSU Campus Service (Routes 30 - 36, 39, Lot Link and Night Owl): Regular campus service will conclude for the week at 2:30 a.m. Monday morning, Mar. 9, when Routes 34, 35, 36 and Lot Link end service. The 10 campus routes/services that serve MSU do not operate during the week of spring break.

Spartan Service Resumes

Lot Link will begin providing campus service at 3 p.m. Sunday, Mar. 15 and operate until 2 a.m. Monday morning when Night Owl service resumes. The weekday Spartan Service provided on Routes 1, 23, 25, 26 and

Routes 30, 31, 32, 33 and 39 also resumes Monday, Mar. 16. Entertainment Express returns to 15-minute service on Thursday, Mar. 19.
