LANSING, MI - The 21st Annual Greater Lansing Entrepreneurial Awards were presented Thursday evening, March 12 at the University Club of MSU to five worthy recipients. Tiffany Dowling, publisher of the Greater Lansing Business Monthly (GLBM), and April Clobes, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at MSU Federal Credit Union, co-hosted the event before nearly 300 attendees.

This is Dowling’s second year serving as publisher of GLBM and hosting this prestigious event. Dowling brings a new perspective and energy to the Entrepreneurial Awards, which has been an integral part of the Lansing business community for over two decades.

“An entire community prospers from new business. I believe entrepreneurs help drive the economy and provide good jobs. Entrepreneurs are risk-takers who aren’t afraid to fail. At his event we celebrate entrepreneurs whose determination, persistence and hard work have brought them great success,” said Dowling.

The guest speaker for the evening was Tom Anastos, coach of the MSU hockey team and owner of Suburban Sports Group, LLC. Anastos shared his inspiring story of entrepreneurial success.

Recognized for their hard work, determination and their ability to take risks, category winners included: Ian Richardson of Doberman Technologies, who received the Emerging Entrepreneur Award; Mike Maddox of ASK won the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award; and Don McNabb of Triterra received the Socially Responsible Entrepreneur Award.

The Greater Lansing Business of the Year is an award set aside for mid-Michigan businesses that have reached extraordinary success. This business was chosen because of its impressive growth, financial success and impact on the community. This year’s award went to Jeff Kresnak of Superior Asphalt.

The Entrepreneur of the Year Award is intended to set the bar for aspiring and emerging entrepreneurs. The entrepreneur from this company found a way to set himself apart from the competition. This year’s award went to Ron Boji of Boji Group.

The Greater Lansing Entrepreneurial Awards are sponsored by: MSU Federal Credit Union; University Club of MSU; WILX-TV 10; Andrews Hooper Pavlik, PLC; Horizon Bank; Maner Costerisan, PC; M3 Group; Consumers Energy and Sparrow Health Systems.
