Another Global Announcement on MI Avenue Corridor
$77 million SkyVue on Michigan development to be built on former Story Oldsmobile location

LANSING, MI – The City of Lansing and LEAP announced today another major development along the Michigan Avenue corridor in Lansing, directly across the roadway from the Red Cedar Renaissance. The SkyVue on Michigan development is a project proposed by Ambling University Development Group (Ambling) out of Atlanta, GA. Ambling plans to build a 667,000 square foot, 9-story, mixed use building featuring 359 residential units and a retail component as well as parking on the north end of the development, which backs up to the Frandor Shopping Center. Additional amenities for the project include indoor tennis, volleyball, and basketball courts. The building will be uniquely urban in its design and significantly cater to market rate-seeking young professionals as well as students.

“Ambling’s SkyVue development will be a welcome addition to this key area by complementing the exciting Red Cedar Renaissance and Midtown projects, while eliminating a blighted property on the Michigan Avenue Corridor,” said Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero. “This development will help redefine the corridor as a bustling, central hub of activity – a truly global village – for professionals, students, visitors and residents of both the cities of Lansing and East Lansing.”

SkyVue on Michigan and the Red Cedar Renaissance, which together represent private investment in excess of $350 million, will further drive the reinvention of the Michigan Avenue Corridor, creating a global market leader, keyed around the riverfront, the park, and Frandor, all connecting the university and the capital in a Madison or Columbus-like way,” said Bob Trezise, president and CEO of LEAP.

"Our firm is enthusiastic about the transformative redevelopment occurring along the Michigan Avenue corridor. SkyVue on Michigan, a mixed-use development, will enhance and contribute to the long-term success of the Michigan Avenue corridor.  We are appreciative of the visionary leadership of Mayor Bernero and LEAP and look forward to working with the City of Lansing further,” said Matthew Marshall, vice president of Ambling University Development Group.

This project will need both state and local City of Lansing incentive approvals to move forward. Over the coming months, LEAP and Ambling will work closely with the Lansing Brownfield Redevelopment Authority (LBRA), Lansing City Council, and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) to pursue the necessary approvals.  Construction for SkyVue on Michigan is anticipated to be underway by November 2015 and completed by the Summer of 2017.
