Eaton RESA and Davenport University team up to give students a head start in college

LANSING, MICH., August 12, 2015 - Eaton county 11th & 12th grade students will soon be able to take advantage of Davenport University (DU) in downtown Lansing through a new partnership between Eaton RESA Career Preparation Center and Davenport University.  Starting with the 2015-2016 school year, Eaton RESA will offer a Business Academy to those students interested in getting a head start in their college or career plans.  Upon successful completion, students will not only receive their high school credit but will also have the opportunity to receive 12 transcripted college credits through DU.

The program is set up as part of the student’s normal day.  They will spend the first two hours downtown at DU and the remainder of their day back at their home school taking their other core classes.  Students taking advantage of this opportunity still graduate on time with the rest of their class, this program takes the place of other electives.  The students enrolled into this program will be DU students and receive the same benefits as other traditional DU students.  The program is comprised of four classes, the first being “Achieving Career and Educational Success” (ACES100).  Davenport University's First Year Experience is dedicated to supporting incoming students so they can achieve their academic, personal, and professional goals.  ACES100 will be followed up by Introduction to Business (BUSN120), Management Foundations (MGMT211), and Marketing Foundations (MKTG211).

Eaton RESA plans to expand this opportunity by offering additional programs and college credits through this great partnership.  Currently Eaton RESA has similar partnerships with Lansing Community College, Potter Park Zoo, AIS Training Center, Olivet College and Farm Bureau Insurance where students can take advantage of a wide variety of program offerings.
