The Runway Features 3D Printing Expert at September’s Fashion 411 Speaker Series

LANSING, MI - The Runway invites all those who are interested in learning about 3D printing, scanning and design to attend the September Fashion 411 Speaker Series featuring Joe Carr, co-founder Acutus.

WHEN: 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015

COST: $10 per person (The event is free to The Runway Designers-in-Residence.)

DETAILS: During the Fashion 411 Speaker Series, Joe Carr will share insider advice to entrepreneurs and startups on 3D printing and design and how designers can use the 3D technology within the fashion industry. He’ll share with the attendees what software, tools and local resources are available.

The Fashion 411 Speaker Series is designed to highlight individuals sharing their stories of success as well as failures. Learning from others is critical to the success of budding entrepreneurs and this series is designed to motivate, inspire and teach start-ups in the fashion industry and beyond.

The upcoming speaker for Oct. 28 will be Rebecca Clark, owner of Michigan Fashion Proto. The Fashion 411 events are held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at The Runway. Joe Carr is a veteran of the 3D printing industry, helping start one of the world’s first 3D printing retail stores and advising several companies in the additive manufacturing space. While working with clients in Chicago Joe recognized the usefulness of the technology for fashion and designers.

Joe is currently a Technology Specialist for the East Lansing Public Library as well as a Digital Manufacturing consultant. Prior, he co-founded Maizena, a 3D printing material research company and was the Production Manager at The 3D Printer Experience. You can find his parts in highly advanced prosthetics, avant garde art and fashion, and even on the desk of Hillary Clinton.
