Winning Songs Announced for 31st AnnualSilver Bells in the City Community Sing

LANSING, MI – People from across metro Lansing cast their votes for their
favorite Christmas carols that will be sung during the Community Sing at the
31st Annual Silver Bells in the City as part of a FOX 47 Poll held from Oct. 23
through Oct. 29. The top two songs chosen are Oh Holy Night and Silver Bells.
Presented by the Lansing Board of Water and Light and the City of Lansing,
the 31st Annual Silver Bells in the City, set for Friday, Nov. 20, is reinstating the
Community Sing as an annual tradition. The Community Sing began in 1985
during the inaugural year of Silver Bells when it was a very small affair with
banners, a high school pep band and a Community Sing led by Mayor McKane
at the corner of Michigan Avenue and Washington Square.

The Community Sing will begin just before the lighting of the State Christmas
Tree, when attendees will have the opportunity to sing two carols along
with East Lansing-based choir, The Steiner Chorale. The Community Sing is
sponsored by the Greater Lansing Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Silver Bells in the City is free and open to the public. A project of Downtown
Lansing Inc., Silver Bells in the City is produced with the assistance of many
dedicated community volunteers from the city, state, downtown businesses
and educational and cultural institutions.

About The Steiner Chorale: The Steiner Chorale was organized in 1968 by
William Steiner, Choral Director for East Lansing High School. Over the years,
the chorale has attracted many gifted conductors and developed a reputation
for high quality performances of familiar works as well as non-traditional pieces.
