House manager Ruth Lumbert has dedicated 15 years to serving the House

February 2015 marks Ruth Lumbert’s 15-year work anniversary with the Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Michigan. Ruth has been with the House since its opening in June of 2000. She serves as the House manager, ensuring all families’ needs and requirements are met while their children are receiving medical treatment at our local hospitals and clinics.

“Ensuring our guest families are comfortable and receiving the support they need is a crucial part of our mission,” Carolyn Hurst, executive director of the Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Michigan, said. “Ruth’s dedication to her roles and responsibilities allow us to provide the best possible care during our guests’ time of need.”

Shortly after the Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Michigan opened in June 2000, Ruth began her tenure with the organization as a volunteer. Less than a year later, Ruth decided to continue her time with the House as an employee. In addition to her current role as the House manager, Ruth also coordinates and manages the House volunteers.

Volunteers play a tremendous role in serving Ronald McDonald House families. They play a role in everything from preparing home-cooked meals for the families to typical housework chores to helping out with office tasks.

“As a team member who transitioned from a volunteer role to a staff position, Ruth has the experience to gauge the full magnitude of the importance of our mission, volunteers and quality of care provided to our guest families. The rest of the staff, board, volunteers, guest families and I appreciate all of Ruth’s efforts each and every day.”

The Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Michigan thanks Ruth Lumbert for her day-to-day efforts as well as her long-term commitment.

The Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Michigan serves families from around the state and beyond who have a child in one of the local hospitals or clinics. It has served thousands of families by providing them a warm and caring home-away-from-home where they can have home-cooked meals, a place for siblings to play and a comfortable space to sleep close to the hospital room where they spend countless hours with an ill child.
