If you have attended Lansing Economic Club or Annual Dinner in recent months, you have no doubt noticed the event has a greatly enhanced production value, from an array of large screens spread around the room, projectors, better lighting, improved video and audio. The “major league” production surrounding Chamber events is thanks to the team at MessageMakers, a well-known, Old Town-based, full-service production company. The MessageMakers team brings a high level of professionalism and commitment to each individual event they produce.

“Every time we are trying to raise the bar,” said Terry Terry, president of MessageMakers. “We ask ourselves what we can do differently? We’ve produced all over the world and conducted programs in 12 languages.”

In addition to event production, MessageMakers offers high quality video production, curriculum development and brand activation. The company has built of broad base of clients around the world including Harley Davidson, Red Cross and clients at neighboring businesses in Old Town. MessageMakers prides itself on not being a traditional firm, choosing to emphasize storytelling and helping clients build stronger connections.

“We get people to cry, laugh, imagine and act,” said Terry. “We work on the emotional aspect of messaging. We like to work with good, smart people who want to make the world a better place.”

MessageMakers is widely recognized for its video production, which is aided by full-service, in-house production and post capabilities. A recent documentary that received plaudits around the country was the production of Second Shift: the Inside Story of the Keep GM Movement. The documentary, which was distributed by American Public TV, has literally been years in the making and was recognized with an Emmy nomination.

“It’s a story about building community, collaborating and making a difference,” said Terry. “It’s a model that other communities can follow.”

MessageMakers has won more than 100 awards over the years, including two from the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce – Small Business Advocate of the Year and Outstanding Small Business awards.

The concepts of making a difference, building community and collaboration have also been evident in Terry’s and MessageMakers work in leading the revitalization of the Old Town community. Among the noteworthy efforts over the years, include the creation of the Jazz and Blues festivals, which have become annual entertainment staples that draw thousands from around the region and Michigan.

MesaageMakers clients, including the Lansing Regional Chamber and the Old Town community, have all been beneficiaries of the company’s commitment to creating experiences that transform.
