CBRE|Martin announces the successful sale of Brook Lodge, on behalf of Michigan State University (MSU). The former hotel and conference center sold to an out-of-state buyer for the full asking price.

CBRE|Martin’s Van Martin, Chairman & CEO, and Stephen Hershfield, Associate, represented MSU in the sale. The beautiful and tranquil grounds consist of 82.6 acres and still captures the majesty of its storied past. While Brook Lodge ceased operations in 2012, CBRE|Martin attracted a buyer who had a clear vision for the property, and embraced its heritage.

In 2000, MSU acquired the property and it became a part of the University’s Housing and Food Service Division. MSU used the property for conferences, education purposes, and later rented out the grounds as a popular wedding venue.

Prior to MSU's acquisition of Brook Lodge, the property served as a conference center for Upjohn Company employees. In 1895, it was a private, 40-acre dairy farm, purchased by Dr. William Upjohn, for use as a family vacation property. After Dr. Upjohn’s passing, the Upjohn Company purchased Brook Lodge from the family’s estate.
