The Lake Trust Foundation is now accepting applications and will award several scholarships this year, as high as $5,000, plus five full-tuition (for both graduate and undergraduate) Lake Trust Community Impact Scholarships to Cleary University. This year’s scholarship program includes support for non-traditional students seeking a career in a technical education program, social entrepreneurs that believe doing good in the community and business go hand-in-hand, and students planning to attend Cleary University in the future.

“The Lake Trust Foundation was established to help build and sustain stronger communities,” said Lake Trust Credit Union President and CEO David Snodgrass. “We accomplish this through outreach programs, financial assistance, grants and more. For our scholarships, we’re looking for applicants who will use their award to better themselves and in turn, be leaders and make a difference in their communities.”

Lake Trust Credit Union, through a strategic business partnership with Cleary University will also award five full-tuition Lake Trust Community Impact Scholarships to attend the University.

The New Beginnings Scholarships are designed for non-traditional students seeking a career in a technical field. For this category, awards include a $5,000 scholarship, two $2,000, one $1,000 and two full-tuition scholarships to Cleary University.

Social entrepreneurs looking to take their businesses to the next level can apply for one of five $2,000 Social Entrepreneurship Scholarships and two full-tuition scholarships to Cleary University.

The Doug Hawes Memorial scholarship honors late Lake Trust team member Doug Hawes, who demonstrated a lifelong commitment to his community. Throughout his life, Doug was president of both the Howell Chamber of Commerce and the Howell Jaycees, as well as a member of GANG IT Network and Leadership Livingston. Most recently, Hawes acted as Business Intelligence Manager at Lake Trust, where his advanced knowledge and mentorship proved to be key for the organization. The Doug Hawes Memorial Scholarship is a one-time full-tuition impact scholarship in Hawes’ honor to Cleary University. Because of Hawes’ background and commitment to community, the scholarship winner will be a student seeking an associates, undergraduate or graduate degree in a career in Business Analytics, Entrepreneurship, Information Security and Assurance, or Analytics Technology and Innovation.

Scholarship applications are due June 1, 2018 and winners will be announced in July. Recipients will be celebrated at an event in August. For more information, visit laketrust.org.
