The following statement can be attributed to Tim Daman, president and chief executive officer of the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce.

We understand the significant economic impact to many businesses and employees by Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s recently announced stay-at-home executive order. However, the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce (LRCC) believes the public health and safety of our residents should remain a top priority in reducing the widespread exposure to COVID-19.

We continue to encourage the tri-county region to support local businesses as much as possible. Now, more than ever, we need to shop local and buy items online from local stores as well as order delivery and carryout from our favorite restaurants. It’s essential to their survival. We must all be willing to adhere to the state’s recommendations to ensure we can get through this situation swiftly and minimize its detrimental health and economic impact as much as possible.
