Statement from Tim Daman, President & CEO, Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce: Gray Media Groundbreaking
The Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce congratulates Gray Media on today’s groundbreaking at 500 American Road, marking a significant investment in Lansing’s southside and in the future of local journalism. WILX News 10 has been a trusted presence in mid-Michigan since 1959, and this renovation and expansion ensures that legacy continues well into the future.
This project also marks an exciting new chapter as Gray Media unites WILX News 10 and WSYM Fox 47 under one roof, bringing NBC and Fox operations together in a modern, 30,000-square-foot facility built for the way audiences consume local news today. Combining two of mid-Michigan’s most recognized stations into a single, collaborative media center is a smart investment in both the region’s media landscape and the talented teams that power it.
When companies invest in Lansing and choose local partners to build it, that is a win for our entire regional economy. We applaud Gray Media’s decision to work with Lansing Regional Chamber members Granger Construction and Colliers Engineering & Design, as well as Huffman Keel Associates, on this project. When it opens in December 2027, our community will have a home for local news built to serve, connect, and inform mid-Michigan for decades to come.
