Manufacturing investments, emerging technology opportunities, and downtown redevelopment highlight the region’s economic strength and future growth potential

LANSING, MI — The Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce (LRCC) is celebrating a series of major economic development announcements and milestones that demonstrate the continued momentum building across Greater Lansing.

From General Motors’ planned investments of more than $2 billion across its Lansing Grand River and Lansing Delta Township manufacturing facilities, to a proposed 423-acre emerging technology development in Delhi Township, to the Brick Row redevelopment along Michigan Avenue, the Lansing region continues to demonstrate its ability to attract investment, support innovation, and build for the future.

“These are incredibly exciting times for the Lansing region, and the momentum we’re seeing across multiple sectors of our economy is something our entire community should be proud of,” said Tim Daman, President and CEO of the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce. “General Motors continues to recognize what we have known for generations: Lansing knows how to build things. We have the workforce, the talent, and the determination to compete, innovate, and continue building for the future.”

General Motors Continues Its Commitment to Lansing Manufacturing
General Motors’ October 27 announcement reinforces the company’s longstanding commitment to the Lansing region and its highly skilled manufacturing workforce. With more than $2 billion in planned investments across Lansing Grand River and Lansing Delta Township over the next several years, GM continues to demonstrate its confidence in the region’s manufacturing capabilities and long-term economic future.

“These investments are about much more than building vehicles,” Daman said. “They’re about supporting thousands of hardworking men and women, strengthening our local economy, creating opportunities for future generations, and ensuring Greater Lansing remains a leader in American manufacturing. We are incredibly proud of our longstanding partnership with General Motors and grateful for its continued investment in our community.”

Emerging Technology Offers Opportunities for Economic Diversification
The region is also seeing growing interest in emerging technology investments, including a possible data center development on approximately 423 acres in Delhi Township. While still in the proposal stage, the potential project represents an opportunity to attract additional private-sector investment, strengthen technology infrastructure, and further diversify the region’s economy.

“As we celebrate the strength of our manufacturing sector, we also need to recognize that the economy of tomorrow will require new technologies, new infrastructure, and new opportunities for growth,” Daman said. “We support the Lansing Economic Area Partnership’s innovative approach and leadership on this potential large-scale development in Delhi Township, as well as its willingness to work with the community to explore how emerging industries can contribute to our region’s long-term competitiveness.”

Brick Row Redevelopment Demonstrates Continued Investment in Lansing’s Urban Core
The economic momentum extends into downtown Lansing, where the Gillespie Group, WIELAND and multiple regional partners are celebrating the Brick Row redevelopment along Michigan Avenue. The project represents another important investment in the Michigan Avenue corridor, bringing renewed life to historic properties while supporting housing, commercial activity, and continued downtown revitalization.

“Developments like Brick Row are an important reminder that economic growth doesn’t happen in just one sector,” Daman said. “As we work to attract and retain employers, we also need housing, vibrant neighborhoods, strong commercial corridors, and places where people want to live, work, and spend time. We’re grateful for the continued investments being made by local businesses and developers who believe in Lansing’s future.”

A Regional Approach to Growth and Economic Opportunity
Together, these developments underscore the importance of a comprehensive approach to economic growth across the Lansing region. The Chamber continues to advocate for policies and investments that support advanced manufacturing, emerging technology, workforce development, infrastructure improvements, housing opportunities, small businesses, and a competitive business environment.

“We cannot build the Lansing region’s future by relying on one industry or one type of investment,” Daman said. “We need manufacturing. We need emerging technology. We need housing and infrastructure. We need entrepreneurs, small businesses, and local developers who are willing to invest in our communities. And most importantly, we need public and private-sector leaders working together to ensure our region continues moving forward. These announcements should remind all of us of the tremendous potential we have in Lansing.”
