Lansing City Charter Proposal Informational Sessions

The Lansing City Charter Commission has approved a proposed revised Charter. After review by the State of Michigan, Lansing voters will decide whether to adopt the updated version or keep the current Charter.

The City Charter is Lansing’s “founding document,” outlining:

  • Powers of the City
  • Structure of Government
  • The Election Process
  • Rights & Responsibilities of Citizens
  • Fiscal Management
  • The Amendment Process
