LANSING, MI — The Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce (LRCC) welcomed business leaders, elected officials, and community stakeholders Tuesday evening for its Policy Forum featuring Mike Duggan, LRCC-endorsed Independent candidate for Governor of Michigan. The sold-out event took place Tuesday, May 12, from 5–8 p.m. at the Country Club of Lansing.

The event, one of LRCC’s premier public affairs programs, focused on the issues shaping Michigan’s economic future, including economic competitiveness, workforce development, infrastructure, and statewide policy priorities. The discussion was moderated by Tim Daman, President and CEO of the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce.

During the forum, discussion focused on creating a more stable and predictable policy environment, strengthening infrastructure systems such as roads, water, and energy capacity, and ensuring Michigan is prepared to support emerging industries and future investment opportunities.

Conversation also centered on workforce development challenges facing employers, including strengthening the talent pipeline, aligning education with workforce needs, supporting growth in communities across the state, and fostering bipartisan collaboration to advance meaningful policy solutions in Lansing.

Duggan, who served as Mayor of Detroit from 2014 – 2026, shared his vision for Michigan’s future and discussed the importance of collaboration, economic growth, and creating opportunities for communities across the state.

“With the 2026 election cycle underway and several key statewide races on the ballot, it was important for the business community to hear directly from candidates and leaders shaping the future of Michigan,” said Steve Japinga, Senior Vice President of Public Affairs for the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce. “LRCC endorsed Mike Duggan because of his proven track record of economic development, bipartisan leadership, and his focus on creating a strong business climate and growing communities across Michigan. The Policy Forum provided an opportunity for our members and regional stakeholders to engage in thoughtful dialogue about the policies impacting our economy and communities.”
The event drew a strong audience of business leaders and community partners from across the Greater Lansing region.

The LRCC Policy Forum is part of the organization’s ongoing commitment to fostering informed discussion and civic engagement around the issues that impact Michigan’s business climate and regional prosperity.
