Michigan employers can now apply for the Going PRO Talent Fund, a state grant program that helps businesses upskill and train current or new employees.

This program remains one of the state’s strongest workforce-readiness tools. However, with reduced state funding this year, grants are expected to be highly competitive. Two funding rounds are planned — the first is open now through 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, and the next will take place in 2026.

The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) reimburses employers through local Michigan Works! agencies between $2,000 and $3,500 per employee (depending on employment type) for training that meets a demonstrated business need and leads to an industry-recognized credential.

Employers interested in applying or learning more can contact:
• Steve Japinga, LRCC SVP of Public Affairs – sjapinga@lansingchamber.org
• Sarah Bakken, LRCC Talent Development Manager – sbakken@lansingchamber.org

The Lansing Regional Chamber partners closely with Capital Area Michigan Works!, which provides direct support to employers during the application process. You can connect with CAMW! representative Teri Sand through their employer portal: https://www.camw.org/employers/find-training
