The following statement can be attributed to Tim Daman, president and CEO of the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce:

Eva Evans leaves a remarkable legacy as a leader in education and throughout the community. The Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce was proud to recognize her as the 1991 recipient of the ATHENA Leadership Award, one of the dozens of well-deserved honors throughout her prestigious career. Eva was a pioneer who broke through many barriers and achieved many firsts, including serving as the first female deputy superintendent of the Lansing Schools and serving in leadership positions for charitable organizations throughout the local community and reaching around the world. Her influence and impact on those she served throughout her life were immeasurable. She was a true humanitarian and a friend to those who were fortunate to know her, and her presence will be greatly missed.
